History

Thomas Franklin Daniels was born in Walnut Springs, Texas in March 1909. He married Lucille Broyles and the couple had two sons. According to his son, Tom E. Daniels, his father followed a Superintendent from the Rio Grande Valley to Kerrville for a teaching job and for the climate. Daniels gave his life to education in Kerrville, serving as principal of Tivy Elementary School from 1930 to 1969. He was known as a quiet, conservative, and patient leader. Daniels was also active in the community, serving as president of the Kerrville Kiwanis Club, as a bank director, and as a member of the Masonic Lodge. Daniels died in April 1977. Kerrville ISD named a new elementary school in his honor in 1967.
